Minnesota South District: Our purpose is to glorify God by: (1) Helping congregations build up the body of Christ, and (2) Providing mission vision, leadership, and opportunities to the people and congregations of the District, so that all people might be reached with the Gospel and become disciples of Jesus Christ.

"It's Time to Fish: Catch, Equip, Release" Mission Initiative
Your gift to this District Campaign will help…Plant New Churches – by God’s grace, we pray and work for 50 new churches by 2017…Provide Mission Training – for ethnic immigrants desiring to become pastors or well-equipped lay leaders, for Distance Education Leading to Ordination (DELTO), Mission Planter Training, and outreach training for congregations…and Support Future Missions through the Ablaze! initiative and District Mission Endowments.



Campus Ministry – University of Minnesota, Minneapolis
University Lutheran Chapel serves as spiritual home to students from several campuses as well as to ULC congregation members. Pastor David Kind offers spiritual care and catechesis for Lutheran students, reaches out to students from around the world with the Gospel, prepares men for seminary study, and trains leaders of tomorrow’s laity. You can help with this campus ministry!



Campus Ministry—Minnesota State University, Mankato
Campus Lutheran Chapel, served by Pastor Monte Meyer, reaches out to LCMS students at a critical time in their lives, with special emphasis on reaching the 80% unchurched student population. The CLC Campus Ministry is the largest Christian ministry on the Mankato Campus (population 14,000 students). Your gift helps to share the powerful news of forgiveness and hope in Jesus with American and International students.



Chinese Mission—Risen Christ, Stillwater
The Twin Cities area is home to nearly 21,000 Chinese, 19,000 of whom are immigrants, 2,000 are scholars at the University of Minnesota, the highest Chinese student population in the US. Most are willing to explore American culture and Christianity. Pastor Stephen Wiesenauer directs the Christian outreach efforts of Risen Christ and other congregations so that Chinese people may come to know Jesus and His saving love. Your gift helps reach your Chinese neighbors.



Ethiopian Mission – Addis Hewot, Minneapolis
Addis Hewot (“New Life”) is served by Rev. Francis Beko, himself an immigrant from Ethiopia. The vision of Pastor Beko and Addis Hewot is to share the message of Christ with fellow Ethiopians so that they will know Him as their personal Savior. There are 23,000 Ethiopians living in the Twin Cities, a field ripe for harvest! Your gift helps to gather in that harvest!



Hispanic Mission
Rev. Martin Teigen serves as Missionary at Large to Southwest Minnesota Hispanics. Based in Mankato, Missionary Teigen has established mission outposts in Glencoe, Madelia, Gaylord, Henderson, and Mankato. Additional work is done in many other communities, including new work in the Minneapolis/St. Paul metro area. Help reach the growing Hispanic population in Minnesota South with the Good News of Jesus!



Hmong Mission – Grace Hmong, Brooklyn Park
The Twin Cities has the largest Hmong population in the US! Of the 85,000 Hmong living in the metro area, only 25% are Christian. Dr. Fungchatou Lo and Grace Hmong, reach out to non-Christians and their unchurched Hmong neighbors. Through visitation and media ministry, they work to share the saving Gospel message. The mission work is sizeable, and your gift helps.



Liberian Mission – Grace International, Robbinsdale
With a population of 23,000 Liberians, the Twin Cities is home to the second largest Liberian population in the US. Reaching these immigrants is the evangelism dream of Deacon Isaac Williams and Grace International Lutheran Church, who work hard to connect with immigrants urging them not to forget Jesus in their lives. Your gift helps them continue these connections!



Sudanese Mission – St. Matthew’s Sudanese, Columbia Heights
Since the early 1990s, 12,000 Sudanese left their war-torn country and made their way to the Twin Cities. Many more have settled in other locations throughout southern Minnesota. Ninety-five percent of these are unchurched. St. Matthew’s Sudanese offers worship, Bible Study and children’s ministry in the Nuer language, training children and adults to share their faith in Jesus Christ with their family and friends. Help them to carry on this important mission work!



Swahili-Speaking Mission – King of Kings, Roseville
There are 6,000 Swahili-speaking immigrants in the Twin Cities. Swahili is a language spoken by people in several east African countries including Tanzania, Kenya, Rwanda, Uganda, Congo, and Somalia. Rev. Godfrey Malisa serves as pastor to Swahili-speaking people, many of whom, while they are Christian, do not attend church. Help share the Word of God with these people in their heart language!
