Giving Opportunities

Cambodia: The mission outreach in Cambodia, as in much of Asia, is not done by missionaries, but by local people and local church planters. The role of LCMS World Mission is primarily as teacher, helper and prayer partner.

Cambodia EFL (English as a Foreign Language) Volunteers
Volunteers have great skills, experiences and zeal. Career and financial goals are not the focus as they serve. This does not lessen the mission they accomplish. LCMS volunteers gather their own financial support. You may choose to help one particular volunteer, but as magnanimous as volunteers might be, they must still eat, drink and pay taxes. Your gift here provides for basic stipend and living costs so they can be in mission with those around them.

Cambodia Groth Support
Rev. Charles and Jeanette Groth are called to serve God in Southeast Asia, being based in Cambodia where LCMS World Mission works to support established churches there. Help them now with your gift!

Cambodia—Battambang School and Outreach Project
Trinity Lutheran Church, the first consciously Lutheran congregation in Cambodia, recently opened an English school to tutor and teach local students during their free time. In its first year of operation, it already has more than 100 students, almost all of whom are non-Christian. Your gift will help bring in consultants in evangelism and EFL to help with the programming and will pay for scholarships and the upkeep and further development of the school.

Cambodia—Community Development, Micro-credit
The Open Gate Christian Fellowship, with a membership of more than 3,000, seeks to develop its own people, future leaders and institutions. This project will provide loans to poor members in the outlying villages for income-generating projects that will increase their family incomes and improve their life situation. Your gift helps them help themselves!

Cambodia—Open Gate Christian Fellowship Assistance Project
Seminars will be organized and run to teach pastors, lay evangelists, Sunday school teachers and women’s group leaders. The congregation’s youth will be given scholarships to train for future professional work in the fellowship. Christian literature and study materials will be translated into Khmer for use by the fellowship and other Christian groups. Your gift here helps with all these projects!

Hoeppner Cambodia Support
Seth and Shannon Hoeppner serve as long-term missionaries in Cambodia. Shannon serves as an English-as-a-Foreign-Language (EFL) teacher and Seth is a community development worker. Both Seth and Shannon share the Gospel in word and deed through their ministries, and seek to connect the people they build relationships with to the developing Lutheran church body there.
