Giving Opportunities

Vietnam: The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod serves the people of Vietnam through projects that provide humanitarian assistance and educational services. LCMS World Mission personnel teach English and, in partnership with LCMS World Relief/Human Care, sponsor many projects to address health problems.

Vietnam Administration
Administration may not be the most popular giving opportunity, but it is one of the most essential. Without it, work cannot take place effectively. Your gift provides for expenses that LCMS World Mission incurs directly, separate and apart from any of the other various project budgets. It keeps all LCMS World Mission personnel working to their greatest potential. It provides for all the necessities, banking fees, postage, telephones, visas, work permits, office rent, etc.

Vietnam EFL Computer Lab
L CMS World Mission, a registered Non-Governmental Organization in Vietnam, holds workshops in teaching English as a Foreign Language. We invite a dozen Vietnamese teachers of English from six provinces (states) in northern Vietnam. Each workshop is sponsored in partnership with the Hanoi School of Public Health. The people of Vietnam are eager to become more involved in the world community. Click the "Read more" button to read some responses to what your gifts have done and will do.

Vietnam Engelbrecht Support
Ted Englebrecht, with his wife Jacqueline Noel, began service in Vietnam in 1996 when Ted accepted a position as LCMS World Mission project manager there. Working in partnership with LCMS World Relief/Human Care, LCMS World Mission serves the people through education and humanitarian aid projects. Ted supervises nutrition projects and poverty alleviation projects. Jacqueline teaches French and other subjects. Your gift helps keep these leaders in the field.

Vietnam J.P. and Aimee Cima Support
John (J.P.) and Aimee Cima serve the Lord in Vietnam, where J.P. is completing his vicarage. He and Aimee focus on language training and cultural adjustment, as well as becoming involved in different ministries. They teach English to high school students and nutrition to adult women. J.P. preaches regularly in Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia, leads Bible studies and provides theological training to national pastors. Your gift helps J.P. and Aimee in their service to God.

Vietnam Myhre Support
Carl Myhre serves the people of Vietnam as a long-term volunteer in Hanoi. He teaches English as a Foreign Language (EFL) and builds relationships with his students through those classes. Your support allows Carl to share God’s love with his Vietnamese students.

Vietnam Poverty Alleviation
Your gift will: help keep our project office in Vietnam open; help poor families get access to diversified credit sources so that they can better manage their livelihoods; help decrease malnutrition in poor families by improving the quality and quantity of their meals; and reduce the rate of hunger in the study group to under one percent. In reality, unless LCMS World Mission has projects in Vietnam, the LCMS cannot work or keep a project office there. Please help.

Vietnam Runey Support
Amanda Runey serves the people of Vietnam as an English teacher through LCMS World Mission in Hanoi. She teaches English-as-a-Foreign-Language classes to first- and second-year students at the Hanoi University of Technology. She builds relationships with her students through activities in and outside of the classroom. Your support helps Amanda continue to impact the lives of her Vietnamese students.

Vietnam Schaff Support
Sarah Schaff serves as a GEO volunteer in Vietnam, where she teaches English to university students. Sarah builds relationships with her students in and outside of class. She also works with the rest of LCMS personnel in Vietnam to support their humanitarian work.

Vietnam Volunteer Program
Volunteer English teachers are a crucial part of the work in Vietnam. Volunteers meet people in their schools and communities and as they go about their everyday business such as buying food in the market. Through a commitment to teaching, they demonstrate Christ's love to help people meet real needs and demonstrate Christian values of caring for the poor, oppressed and weak. Your gift helps make all this possible.
