Giving Opportunities

Kenya: LCMS World Mission trains leaders among several people groups in several countries in East Africa. Because the growth of the East African church has been explosive in recent years, a great need exists for leaders who can minister to many newly baptized people and to many others that have asked for the Gospel.

Kenya Chapel Roofs
Chapel roof projects help congregations complete their chapels with durable and long lasting roofs. Your gift supplies the roofing materials, while the local congregation supplies materials for the walls and labor for construction. Your gift shows your concern for new younger congregations and helps spark a lot of excitement in new believers. More chapels will be built as the Lutheran Church reach out to people who know no god or bow before idols made with human hands.

Kenya Field Office Administration
This giving opportunity is "the one that gets it done" in East Africa. Your gift here covers a wide variety of expenses that deal with the daily running of the East African Mission. It includes the salary and benefits of the office manager and also covers general office expenses such as rent, travel, equipment, meetings, bank charges, telephone, electricity, supplies and all things necessary to run an office. Give now and help get it done in East Africa!

Kenya Houge Support
Rev. Claude and Rhoda Houge serve in Kenya. Claude works with national church partners in supervising regional Mission Training Centers throughout East Africa. He helps teach and train national church leaders who come to study at the centers. Rhoda, in addition to assisting with responsibilities in the mission office, works with Mission Responders and donors to keep them informed on the work in East Africa. Your gift supports them in their service to Jesus Christ and to you.

Kenya Leadership Training
Workshops and seminars are needed to train to lay leaders, pastors, women’s groups, Sunday school teachers and others. Your gift helps provide travel and other expenses to conduct these workshops. Workshops have been particularly affective in working with the Mission Training Center managers to better equip them to lead and train still more leaders in the mission of Jesus Christ in Kenya.

Kenya Mission Training Centers
A Mission Training Center brings leadership training to the local level. In many areas, there is way too much work for the ordained pastors to do alone, so they train 5-15 men who have been identified as church leaders to establish churches and share the Gospel in new areas. Your gift enables LCMS World Mission to help establish the centers and provides the plan, curriculum, a set of Lutheran materials and limited support until the center is independent of outside help.

Kenya Scholarships for African Missionaries
In the LCMS strategy of equipping national pastors and evangelists to carry on the work of the church, we are able to identify leaders in specific areas who need further training. Your gift helps send men to Matango Theological Seminary, Kapenguria Bible School and Atemo Bible School, all in Kenya, the seminary in Tanzania and Nekempta Seminary in Ethiopia.

Kenya Winterle Support
Rev. Carlos and Lidia Winterle serve as Ablaze! Alliance Missionaries in Nairobi, Kenya, through a partnership between the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Brazil (IELB), The Evangelical Lutheran Church of Kenya, and LCMS World Mission. Carlos, former president of the IELB, serves the English-speaking congregation of Uhuru Highway Lutheran Church in Nairobi. Your support enables Carlos and Lidia to carry out their vital ministry in Nairobi.
