Giving Opportunities

Ohio District: The Ohio District is a visionary community of interdependent congregations, schools and agencies bound to Christ and driven by His Great Commission. Each is a unique Great Commission outpost continually responding to Christ's command to baptize and to teach.

African Immigrant Ministry
The Ohio District serves many people coming to our country from Africa through its African Immigrant Ministry. This ministry brings a culturally relevant witness of the saving power of the Gospel of Christ to people who are working hard to overcome barriers of language, culture and race as they build lives in America. Your gift to African Immigrant Ministry makes you a partner in this critical work.

Building Hope in the City
Building Hope in the City is an urban mission organization dedicated to seeing Lutheran congregations thrive in the city. It envisions a healthy Lutheran urban Church, bringing Christ to the City. Its work is connecting Christians in mission by planting new urban congregations and helping revitalize existing center-city ministries. Your gift helps bring this support to congregations that minister to the people of our center-cities.

Campus Ministry
Campus Ministry keeps young people connected with Christ's Church during the critical years of their college educations. These years can be a time of deep spiritual growth or tragic drifting that leads away from faith in God and His promises. Your gift to campus ministry supports young people in these critical times and helps make the college years a blessing for them.

Deaf Ministry
The Ohio District supports three congregations in Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo that are committed to ministry to the deaf communities in and around those cities. These congregations know the deaf community’s special resources, talents and requirements. Your gift to Deaf Ministry supports these three congregations and helps bring the Good News to the deaf community.

Lutheran Disaster Relief
Lutheran Disaster Relief (LDR) in Ohio allows congregations throughout the District to prepare for disaster response, coordinate volunteers, and facilitate servant events that allow Church members to offer hands-on Christian service to disaster victims. Your gift to LDR will be used for direct aid for families touched by natural or other devastating disasters.

Lutheran Education Assistance Fund
Lutheran Education Assistance Fund provides scholarships for low income families to help their children attend a high quality, Lutheran school. Spiritual formation and a quality education are key benefits that Lutheran schools offer. People concerned with offering life-changing help to the poor can do no better than supporting the efforts of a family to give its children this opportunity.

Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry
Since 1969 Lutheran Metropolitan Ministry (LMM) has worked to strengthen spirits and soften hearts by helping people to meet their cultural, physical, social, emotional and spiritual needs in Greater Cleveland. Your gift to LMM offers effective help to people involved in the criminal justice system, people with disabilities, people with long-term care needs, people who are homeless and youth at-risk.

New Church Plants
The Ohio District works with local congregations to identify opportunities for starting new congregations. These efforts are subsidized until the new congregation’s membership grows enough to be self-supporting. Your gift to New Church Plants helps bring the blessing of LCMS worship, witness and service to neighborhoods where it is not now being experienced.

Operation Learning Community
Operation Learning Community (OLC) works with the Youngstown public schools and other partners to offer high quality after school tutoring and counseling to at-risk students. Your gift to OLC helps young people not only succeed in school but also tangibly experience God’s love for them and their families.

Student Financial Aid
The Ohio District – LCMS provides financial aid to those students attending a Concordia University or Seminary. The average cost for tuition, room and board at a Concordia University or Seminary is more than $23,000 per year.
