Disaster Relief
Earthquakes, hurricanes, fires, floods and tornados—Lord have mercy! Jesus said that there would be such things before the end comes, but He also has called us to be His hands reaching out to bring what peace, relief and assistance we can to those who suffer their devastating effects. Your gift here helps to provide a constant resource of funds that can instantly be made available to help those in need. Please give now.

Eldora Iowa Hail Storm
An estimated two-thirds of St. Paul members were adversely affected by the storm. The storm damaged three stained glass windows at the church building, doors on the north and west sides were destroyed along with various windows.

Fort Hood Shooting
LCMS World Relief and Human Care’s Rev. Glenn F. Merritt and Rev. Carlos Hernandez are monitoring needs and in close touch with LCMS pastors in Texas and disaster response partners after the tragic shootings at Fort Hood.

Hurricane Disaster Relief
Your gifts to "Hurricane Disaster Relief" help families and communities affected by hurricanes in the 2009 season (April-October), such as Hurricane Jimena that hit Mexico's Baja California peninsula. In 2008, your gifts aided people in Texas, Louisiana, and Haiti hit by hurricanes Ike and Gustav. Funds in excess of this need will go into the general disaster fund.

North Dakota Flooding
LCMS World Relief and Human Care (WR-HC) is working with partners to prepare for expected flooding in the LCMS North Dakota and Minnesota North Districts. After a continuing season of heavy snow fall, the Red River is estimated to crest over the weekend at 41 feet, beating the 40.1-foot record set in 1897. WR-HC has awarded $12,000 in disaster grants allowing the districts and one congregation to prepare to assist residents in need. Rev. Glenn Merritt, director of LCMS Disaster Response anticipates arriving on the scene late next week.

SE Asia Storm and Earthquake Relief
LCMS World Relief and Human Care's Asia Regional Director Darin Storkson is based in Indonesia, the country where lives were turned upside down by the 7.6-magnitude earthquake September 30 that killed hundreds. That disaster is the most recent in a string of tragedies in Asia that include a tsunami in Samoa, floods in the Philippines, and a typhoon in Taiwan. The Synod's mercy arm is working with ministry partners to assess needs and provide assistance. Your gift eases suffering in the name of Jesus.
